Our History
The Sea & Ski® story begins in the early 1930s when pharmacist Benjamin Green developed a waterproof sunburn cream to protect his customers at his drug store in Florida. His light, greaseless formula allowed swimmers and beachgoers to enjoy the sun and ocean without the mess and discomfort of thick creams. It became an instant hit locally, and he began producing it under the name Sea & Ski®.
The lotion quickly gained popularity along the Southeastern seaboard, and a few years later it was being sold up and down the Atlantic coast. Its light, refreshing fragrance made it the choice of water sports enthusiasts. By the 1950s, Sea & Ski® was the #1 suncare brand and a summertime staple for families across America.
Over the decades, the Sea & Ski® product line expanded from that original sunburn cream into a full collection of suncare products. As sun protection technology advanced, Sea & Ski® incorporated the latest innovations into its lotions and sprays while retaining the light, fast-absorbing formulas it was known for.
